Where can I see your Jewellery in person?

You can visit our designer Boutique at 447 Colombo Street, Sydenham, Christchurch, New Zealand.

Where is Filigree’s jewellery made?

We make all our beautiful Jewellery on site in our workshop above our Colombo Street store. We have four jewellers and one stone setter.

Do you offer lab grown diamonds?…We do!

Whilst we work predominantly with natural diamonds and would always suggest if your budget allows that we look at an ethically sourced natural diamond first, Lab grown diamonds are a great cost-effective option to upsize to a larger stone, or have something made that you maybe wouldn’t normally splash out on. The lab diamonds Filigree works with are certified and graded in the same way a natural diamond is and they are chemically identical to natural diamonds. The key difference is that natural diamonds are rare and finite – whereas lab grown diamonds are infinite.  Advancement in technology now simulating what takes place in nature over billions of years, in days and weeks. However, if you are looking for a beautiful, affordable piece of jewellery without concern for the long-term investment they offer a great alternative to a natural diamond.

Do you make to order?

Yes, we pride ourselves on our bespoke process. Get in touch today to book your complimentary design consultation for your bespoke piece.

What is your lead time to make a piece of jewellery?

It depends on the workload in the workshop but generally speaking it can be anywhere between 4-6 weeks from start to finish.

Do you use CAD (Computer Aided Design)?

We can offer CAD to our customers. Generally, we use a combination of mediums to get the desired effect. These include but are not limited to entirely handmade, hand-carved wax and cast, CAD then cast or a combination of these different methods depending on the design.

Do you remodel jewellery?

Yes, we offer a complimentary design service to breathe fresh life back into your old or inherited pieces.

Can I use my metal for my remodel?

Yes, in most instances you can but this partially depends on the construction of the new piece and or the usability of your metal. For example, fine chain often doesn’t melt up well as well as some white gold casting metals.

What is my ring size?

Your ring size has nothing to do with clothing size and we don’t recommend you guess your size. If you cannot get to us in store for us to size you, we recommend going to your local jewellery store to get sized correctly or alternatively if you have a ring currently that fits the finger you would like to purchase a new ring for, measure the internal diameter for us and we will convert it.
If your ring needs to be resized there will be a charge for this.

Can you re-size my ring?

We do provide a re-size service, depending on the ring, the metal and the difference in size it will incur a fee. If it is a simple size down. If we are sizing up, the fee will be calculated based on the amount of metal to be added to get to the size agreed on.

Do you clean Jewellery?

Over time dust, dirt, pollution, and daily wear all contribute to the brilliance of gemstones and the surface of the metal becoming dull. Along with regular care and cleaning done at home, we recommend a professional clean of your jewellery items at least once a year to service and check your items to make sure you get the most from them.

We provide a “clean and polish” service. This involves the jewellers checking the jewellery to make sure all components and/or stones are safe prior to any work being commenced, a comprehensive clean is done of the item and then a thorough polish is done removing any scuffs or light dings in the metal. If an item is plated, the polishing process removes the plating. We will discuss with you prior to commencing work, if you would just like your item cleaned and to leave plating as is or whether you would like it re-plated. To rhodium plate a ring is an additional charge, and we recommend you do this once a year at least, any other plating is priced per item depending on the base metal, plating required and intricacy of item.

How do I care for my Filigree Jewellery?

It all depends on the metals and gems. Visit our care guide here.

Do you Rhodium Plate your Jewellery?

We usually only Rhodium Plate White Gold items, this gives it the bright white look it is renowned for. Un-plated, 9ct White Gold has a creamy undertone and 18ct White Gold has a much greyer appearance. If you would rather leave your jewellery au naturel and not have it plated, that is fine by us, just let us know. We recommend you do this once a year at least, any other plating is priced per item depending on the base metal, plating required and intricacy of item.
